Xbox 360 Ring of Death Repair
Just about anyone who owns an Xbox 360 will have heard about the dreaded 3 red rings of death or as it's otherwise known the RROD. This occurs because the GPU gets too hot due to a design flaw inside the unit. Not enough cool air is being circulated and the unit overheats and you get the red rings of death! Thanks Microsoft for another quality product! Anyway, luckily the solution to the problem isn't that difficult and there are a few options you may want to consider should you need an Xbox 360 ring of death repair. I will attempt to explain them in this article.
If your console is in need of an Xbox 360 ring of death repair then the first place you will want to check is in your drawers to see if you can your warranty. Now remember Microsoft recently lengthened its warranty for those who have the RROD so make sure that your warranty hasn't expired before you try anything else. If your warranty is still valid then it's just a matter of getting hold of them via the Microsoft website or try their free phone number and they will instruct you what you need to do.
Now if you are unlucky then your warranty has expired and you will need to look for another solution. One such solution is to take it to an electronics store and see if they will fix it for you. The fix itself is quite simple so they shouldn't charge you that much. Maybe up to $150 for parts and labor but that would be on the extreme end of the cost range.
Another option for an Xbox 360 ring of death repair is to get down and dirty and do it yourself. As I have already mentioned it's not really a hard fix if you know what you are doing and seeing as there are many guides around that show you what to do it. All you need to do is follow instructions so a good guide would be one that included detailed instruction on how to go about the repair, in fact the best types are the ones that include video instructions on how to do it, that way you can't go wrong.
For example I will give you the basic instructions here on how you about an Xbox 360 ring of death fix. Firstly you need to take apart your console; this will include removing the outer shell, air duct, Cooling Fans and X-clamps. Those are all relatively straight forward. Next you need to remove the GPU and CPU so that you can remove the Thermal Compound and apply so new thermal paste to the GPU. Then you just need to reassemble in the reverse order. Simple isn't it.
Now you can imagine how much easier the above instructions would be if you were watching a video to go along side it wouldn't it? That's why I recommend you try and get a guide that includes video tutorials.
